As a Transportation Construction Inspector, you will ensure the accuracy of all test procedures in following Pennsylvania Test Method (PTM) methods and/or applicable American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM) standards and the accuracy of laboratory reports. You will also make observations during shipments to ensure that the quality of materials delivered meets specifications with accurate weigh slips representing quantities shipped.
In this position, you will witness technicians in Portland cement plants, asphalt plants, and aggregate quarries perform tests and control quality production of these materials. You will also document sampling and testing techniques accurately and by the method designated as appropriate to each specific type of material and identify potential problems and offers a resolution if possible.
As a Transportation Construction Inspector, you will report problems to supervisor in a timely manner. You will also apply the correct method and reviews compliance with testing methods by material suppliers in the areas of running extraction, gradation, specific gravities, absorption, air content, slump test, unit weights and wash tests.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- Vendor-controlled position.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time on an Ad-Hoc basis after successful completion of probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Montoursville.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
- Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
- One year as an Engineering Technician (commonwealth title); or
- Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (commonwealth titles); or
- One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
