We are looking for an Transportation Manager at our Burnsville garage!

As a Transportation Manager, you will be responsible for and oversee the operation of our school bus transportation contract serving our contract with Bursnville Public Schools.

Job Description:

Schmitty & Sons is looking for a positive LEADER to manage our Operations Team with Schmitty & Sons for our Burnsville garage!

Main Responsibilities Include

• Ensure the safety of the operation as it relates to the service delivered, the passengers utilizing the service, and the employees providing the service
• Creating a positive work environment by providing all employees with fair and equitable supervision while encouraging professional and personal growth
• Manages all personnel of the division either directly or indirectly except for shop employees
• Planning and conducting monthly safety meetings
• Effective and respectful communication and interactions with Burnsvill Schools personnel, contacts, parents

• Keeps contractual compliance with customers
• Keeps up to date on all relevant local, state, and federal laws pertaining to the operation
• Respond and investigate as needed to equipment failures, schedule delays, safety issues and accidents/incidents
• Ensure staffing requirement are filled to meet contract needs
• Counsel drivers on procedures, performance and behavior
• Maintain compliance of safety sensitive function responsibilities
• Sub routes and dispatch area as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Sound decision maker
• Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
• Must have a positive attitude, safety minded and detail oriented
• Good communication skills verbally and written.
• Management Experience required
• Transportation experience preferred
• Obtain (within 90 days of hire date) a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), with passenger endorsement (no air brake restriction)
• Must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and maintain a valid medical certificate.
