Job description
The Bryant Park Hotel is looking for an established sales professional with experience in the Business Travel segment in the New York City market. This individual should be very proactive, highly motivated, possess great communications skills and have the ability to create concrete sales results .
Duties and Responsibilities:
Overview:
The Business Travel Sales Manager is responsible for effectively soliciting and becoming familiar with all accounts in their market segments. They are also responsible for prospecting and closing on assigned targets to positively impact hotel revenues.
Responsibilities:
- Develop business from the business travel segments, primarily from transient sources, but also groups where appropriate to generate rooms, catering and event space sales
- Conduct activities that include prospecting calls, outside sales calls and entertainment of clients and potential clients each week
- Meet or exceed and preset production goals as assigned by Executive Team
- Follow up on all leads promptly and proactively
- Monitor production of all top accounts and communicate information to all essential parties
- Utilize sales operating system fully, including the logging of all activities and completion of reporting in timely fashion
- Regularly invite clients to the hotel for entertainment, lunches, tours and site inspections.
- Assist in implementing special promotional activities
- Develop full product knowledge that can be leveraged into sales opportunities
- Develop working knowledge of reservations processes, catering sales and event spaces rentals (including Screening Room)
- Network and development of broad industry relationships that can support sales activities
- Active participation in events hosted by professional associations and local business communities
- Travel for work related activities as needs
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of hotel business travel sales experience preferred
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be skilled in Windows
- Experience with Opera Cloud is a plus.
- Long hours and flexible schedule sometimes required - this is not just a 9-5 job.
- Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
- Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
- Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
- Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
