Lane & Associates Family Dentistry is looking for a Traveling Orthodontic Assistant to join our team! This position will require traveling between our Hamlet & Southern Pines offices! We offer :

Overall Responsibility:


Responsible for traveling to designated practices and assisting the orthodontist in rendering patient care, maintaining inventory control in the operatories where treatment is rendered by the orthodontist, and maintaining public area appearance. The Chairside Orthodontic Assistant receives direct patient treatment supervision from the Orthodontist.


Key Tasks & Responsibilities:


Daily/Weekly/Monthly Tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Orthodontist in rendering patient care
  • Reinforces oral hygiene and at home care instructions for orthodontic appliances to patients
  • Seats and prepares the patients for treatment by untying the patient and removing arch wires
  • Cleans operatory after treatment procedures
  • Readies tray set-ups for procedures
  • Monitors the operatory supply levels
  • Sterilizes instruments
  • Exposes and develops radiographs
  • Utilizes the iTero scanner for patients’ records
  • Takes impression as needed for orthodontic appliances and pour up dental models
  • Monitors receipt of Invisalign cases and ensures they are ready for the patient’s appointment
  • Takes intraoral photos for dental records
  • Fabricate essix retainers
  • Maintain the office dental supply inventory control system, the lab tracking system, and OSHA
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Specifications:

  • Chairside Dental Assistant certificate required
  • State of NC X-Ray Certification
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to lift 15-20lbs
  • Must be able to travel to the assigned offices
