Job Summary
The undergraduate assistant will work under the supervision of Dr. Georgios Arseniou. The student will use basic forestry tools and tree measurement techniques to collect data on trees in Donald E. Davis Arboretum in order to update the tree inventory of the arboretum.
Essential Functions
- Utilize forestry tools to measure important variables of trees (e.g., diameter at breast height (DBH), tree height, crown dimensions)
- Collect data, store in a database and write progress reports
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrolled student at Auburn University
- Familiarity with forestry tools and knowledge of tree measurement techniques or ability to learn quickly
- Good tree identification skills
- Knowledge of basic Microsoft software (word, excel etc.)
- Ability to work outside in forest conditions
- Professionalism, punctuality and good communication skills
- Ability to work in group settings
