Essential Job Functions
The University Writing Center offers free writing assistance to students, faculty, and staff at App State. The primary purpose of the University Program Associate position is to manage day-to-day functions, maintain business accounts and records, and coordinate and supervise administrative support for the University Writing Center.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Planning, organizing, and supervising work operations for the program.
  • Communicating with clients about writing services and policies.
  • Maintaining business accounts and records.
  • Planning and monitoring the use of budget expenditures to meet the needs of the program and ensure compliance with policies. Preparing regular budget documents and reports.
  • Training and supporting employees on writing center procedures and policies.
  • Establishing work operations for administrative support and monitoring the quality of the work through regular performance reviews of staff.
  • Supporting communication and resolving issues among writing center staff, students, and/or other stakeholders.
  • Taking action in personnel matters, including selecting and reviewing staff.
  • Resolving employee problems and grievances.

Serves as a resource for others in resolving unprecedented, non-standard issues and problems. Assumes responsibilities for and manages the results of decisions. Coordinates and facilitates solutions with other work units.
