Job description
This is a full-time position with one weekday off and a rotating schedule for Saturday mornings--no emergency/ after-hours work! Our clinic is a general/ family practice, focusing on preventive care, outpatient surgery/ dentistry, and medical care. We are a well-established team looking to welcome a new member!
Key Responsibilities
- Gathering basic vital signs, weight, and history on our patients and placing notes into the medical record
- Clean cages and clean surrounding areas as time allows
- Sterilize equipment and clean examination tables and rooms
- Soothe upset or frightened animals
- Administer medication prescribed by Veterinarians
- Observe animal behavior or health condition and report to the Vet
- Help in cases of emergencies
- Handle administrative duties such as scheduling appointments or calling patients in the examination room by priority
- Keep accurate records and logs
- Reassure clients that their pets are being cared for and explain issues (e.g. lack of appointments, insurance matters)
- Advise pet owners on nutrition and healthcare
- Educate owners on medications, husbandry, and recommended practices for their pets as directed by the veterinarians
Skills
- Current or former pet ownership is an advantage
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions properly
- Comfortable being around animals (cats, dogs, birds, reptiles etc.)
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lift up to 40 lbs)
- High school diploma; a certificate from a Veterinary Assistant program is a plus

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
