Our XanEdu business offers custom content publishing and distribution. Our Tripod survey business provides global leaders with actionable data they can use to make fact-based decisions.
We are seeking a VP and General Manager for our XanEdu HED business. Our Higher Education (“HED”) team works across key campus communities to make materials affordable and accessible for students – from academic departments to bookstores and libraries to campus wide groups such as affordability committees - we are strategic partners to deliver engaging and affordable materials with the highest commitment to service. Our 3 main lines of HED business are coursepacks, custom publishing, and OER learning materials, all provided in print and digital form. There are approximately 47 dedicated HED staff at XanEdu.
Role and Responsibilities
- P&L accountability for the HED business
- Developing marketing strategies and working with sales and lead generation to drive growth
- Work with HED Sales Manager and Finance to set and oversee quota target achievement
- Manage relationship with vendor partners, including Barnes & Noble, Follett and OpenStax
- Develop and realize long-range product publishing plan
- Implement and refine pricing strategy
- Regularly report on business unit metrics to company leadership and board
- Anticipate market trends and demands, adjust business unit strategy, budget, and product as needed
- Represent HED business needs to Scholarus shared services, ensuring appropriate service levels and prioritization (Technology, Finance, Corporate Marketing, HR, Operations)
- Maintain presence in the broader HED ecosystem
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
- .Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Experience in US Higher Education content and/or services market
- 3-5 years in a leadership position
- Exceptional skills as a communicator and synthesizer, working across a broad spectrum of experience and expertise
- Effective decision-maker, ability to analyze diverse inputs and develop action plans align to goals
- Strong presence and command of data-led decision making, utilizing Power Point and Excel to communicate business strategies
- Ability to collaborate across different departments and services within the company to align and prioritize efforts
