JOB TITLE: Vice President, Global Marketing, Type 1 disease
LOCATION: 50 Northern Avenue, Boston, MA 02210

DUTIES: The position will lead and/or build the Marketing team for a Type-1 diabetes team and set the commercial vision and strategy and execute key initiatives that will enable Vertex to optimize the global opportunity for the indicated therapeutic area; represent all commercial functions and regions in the Diabetes Disease Strategy Team; responsible for commercial launch preparations for a novel cell therapy for Type 1 diabetes; partner with Research, Development and Commercial colleagues to create and communicate the vision and launch strategy to optimize the success of the therapeutic area; provide commercial input into the Clinical Development plan and Regulatory strategy to optimize launch success; work with cross-functional team to provide input to clinical study design to meet the target product profile; develop range of commercialization options in the US for consideration based on external environment and competitive situation; create the Long Range Plan (LRP) and facilitates choices across the portfolio; work closely with US Public Affairs to ensure coordinated approach and messaging in Federal and State government project planning & interactions; collaborate with Commercial Operations to develop deep customer insights to shape the commercial Strategy; establish market development plan and execute market/product preparation with key regions on global basis; partner with Global Market Access & Value on the development of a compelling economic value proposition and pricing recommendations; partner with Heads of Commercial North America and Commercial International to ensure successful launch planning and launch of asset(s) in applicable market regions. Travel required up to 20%
REQUIREMENTS: Position requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in business administration, plus ten (10) years of experience in the job offered or in a Vice President, Global Marketing, Type 1 disease-related occupation. Experience must include the following:
  • At least ten (10) years of experience working with products in diabetes field; Experience must also include the following:
  • Demonstrable US product launch experience: deliver global launch meetings, global training programs, digital presence, and congress activities;
  • Demonstrable experience participating in cross functional teams focused on registration and developing Life Cycle;
  • Demonstrable experience with Management (LCM) recommendations;
  • Demonstrable understanding of the legal and regulatory environment along with demonstrated commitment to espousing integrity and ethics at all times;
  • Demonstrable ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems;
  • Demonstrable experience building value propositions for all stakeholders;
  • Demonstrable ability managing complexity and ambiguity in a highly matrixed environment; and,
  • Demonstrable ability working independently and managing initiatives that require collaboration across multiple functional areas. Travel required up to 20%.
