You'd be joining a team focused on helping parents improve their relationship with their children through supervised and therapeutic visitation.
Overview: Visitation Counselors provide progressive visits for children in foster care and their parents with the goal of improving family functioning so reunification can occur or the children attain permanency. Flexible schedules, agency vehicle, laptop and cell phone provided.
What you'll do as a Visitation Counselor
- Help maintain the parent-child bond by providing visits for children in foster care and their parents
- Coordinate visits between parents and resource parents and transport children to and from visits
- Provide visit planning, coaching techniques and debriefing; helping to improve parenting skills and interactions so reunification or permanency can occur
- Facilitate meaningful visits; helping parents meet the physical, emotional and developmental needs of their children
- Ensure the safety of children and model appropriate interactions between parents and children
- Help stabilize families who reunify during our intervention
- Work collaboratively with peers, DCP&P and other community providers
- Assist parents with concrete needs and link to resources that can assist with reunification goal
- Complete documentation consistent with program and agency requirements.

What you'll contribute as a visitation counselor
- Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology or social work
- Strong engaging, communication and collaboration skills
- Provide culturally sensitive and responsive service delivery.
- Professionalism, ethics and a commitment to excellence in care
- Must demonstrate initiative, creativity, reliability and the ability to work well independently
- Must be able to exercise independent thinking and good judgment
- Must be able to analyze work, set goals, develop plans and utilize time effectively and efficiently
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, use of an insured vehicle and an acceptable driving record
