Position Description:

OVERVIEW


The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Iowa invites applications for a 9-month faculty position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor to begin August 2023. The initial appointment period is one year with the possibility of extension for a total of three years. Suitable candidates are those who can teach a variety of speech and language courses for our Speech-Language Pathology MA program primarily in the areas of developmental and acquired language disorders (subject to change based on teaching needs of the department). Undergraduate course teaching may also be required. The position can be 50-100% time, with full-time (100%) being 24 semester hours of teaching over the academic year.


RESPONSIBILITIES


Primary responsibilities include classroom teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level within the areas of speech-language pathology.

Education Requirement:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience with collegiate teaching (e.g., course instructor, teaching assistant).
  • Eligible for licensure in Iowa as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Demonstrated experience promoting an inclusive and equitable learning environment.

Certifications:
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience with clinical instruction and/or supervision.
  • Experience with administration and leadership (e.g., involvement in professional organizations).
