Job Summary
This position performs skilled technical maintenance and repair work of electronic voting machines. The Voting Machine Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, delivering and picking up voting machines for use in all elections. May also assist with other election duties as assigned. Job Responsibilities
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
~ Must be capable of regular and predictable attendance at a specified location in order to perform assigned tasks.
~ Organize and keep inventory of the voting machines.
~ Plan and conduct maintenance for voting machines and voting booths so they will operate properly and look presentable.
~ Diagnose and solve technical issues at all polling locations, this can include laptops, scanners, printers, and voting machines.
~ Program the voting machines for each election including testing voting machines to ensure the accuracy and the integrity of the voting machines.
~ Coordinate the delivery of voting machines to Black Hawk County"s polling sites. Confirm delivery of voting machines by contacting each polling site in advance.
~ Ensure proper voting machines and supplies are delivered to the specified polling site(s).
~ Keep accurate and detailed records of all problems that occur and how they are resolved.
~ Report all problems/needs to the Election Manager.
~ Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
~ Supervision is received from Election Manager.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
~ No Functional or administrative supervision is exercised over support staff.
Minimum Required Qualifications
~ High School Diploma or GED required.
~ At least 1 year previous work-related experience preferred.
~ Must possess a valid Iowa driver"s license and be insurable under the county"s guidelines. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities -
~ Must have knowledge of mechanical, technical and/or electronic equipment maintenance and repair.
~ Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to the members of the public and Black Hawk County employees.
~ Ability to understand precinct e-pollbook voting process
~ Knowledgeable in computer software applications preferred.
~ Ability to lift and move supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs. Work Environment and Physical Demands

Position requires ability to travel independently to polling sites; requires frequent use of hands, fingers, to set up and work on equipment; requires close vision; frequent exposure to inclement weather when delivering and picking up equipment; frequently lifts and/or moves equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.
