Required Experience:

  • 3+ years of management experience within a Warehouse/Distribution Center - This person will be managing 6 direct reports and reporting to the Operations Director
  • 7+ years of total warehouse/distribution center experience
  • ERP system experience (i.e., SAP, RedHat, Oracle etc.)

Preferred:

  • SAP Hana experience
  • Experience with managing offsite storage/warehousing.
  • Previous replenishment background

Position Summary:

The Distribution Manager is responsible for the warehousing and distribution activities supporting the manufacturing, service, and distribution operations of the U.S. Anatomical Pathology Division. This includes responsibility for Inbound (Unload, Receipt and Put-away) and Outbound (Pick, Pack, & Ship) Operations, Inventory Accuracy, and Transportation. The position is also responsible for ensuring regulatory and legal compliance with Import/Export, Department of Transportation, and International Air Transport Association requirements for hazardous goods labeling, handling, and shipping. As a member of the site leadership team the manager will be responsible for developing personnel, budgeting and fiscal management, long-term planning, achieving site safety and quality objectives, and utilizing Practical Productivity Improvement to ensure the efficient operation of the function. The position interacts with external vendors and peers in Manufacturing, Planning, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Service, and Finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for establishing a culture of safety throughout the operation, maintaining a safe and secure work environment with a high level of safety awareness among associates.
  • Manages compliance of distribution processes to company quality policies, ISO standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Quality Systems Regulations (QSR). Participates in internal/external quality and customer audits. Utilizes the change control process to develop and implement corrective action to eliminate defects/non-conformances.
  • Maintains Systems and Processes to ensure regulatory and legal compliance with Environmental Protection Agency, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Department of Transportation and International Air Transport Association bodies.
  • Evaluates, develops, and operates within annual expense, capital and personnel budgets.
  • Manages required recurrent staff training programs.
  • Manages the carrier selection and evaluation program. Makes recommendations as appropriate for optimal transportation modes, carriers, routing, equipment, or frequency. Negotiates freight rates, logistics and services agreements and monitor trends in shipping patterns and lane utilization to minimize overall net freight costs.
  • Analyzes distribution and logistical problems to develop solutions including hardware and software applications that drive accuracy, efficiency, and customer loyalty. Applies lean principles across distribution operations.
  • Maintains Import and Export systems and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements.
  • Ensures warehouse layout is optimally aligned for maximum efficiency.
  • Develops and implements methods to maintain accurate inventory levels at the facility.
  • Conducts semi-annual performance review processes to deliver optimal business results.
  • Maintains positive employee relations through the use of proficient and open communication skills. Listens, supports, engages and encourages employee suggestions and input to achieve excellent results.
  • Limited travel may be required. Additional duties may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

  • 5-7 years of professional experience
  • 3-5 years of Distribution Management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Supply Chain Management discipline is preferred, or a minimum of ten years management experience in a Distribution or Manufacturing with a non-supply chain management bachelors degree
  • Experience in hazardous material handling and shipping is preferred.
  • In depth understanding of IATA, TSA & DOT regulations. Strong understanding of global business and trade compliance.
  • Ability to conduct critical analysis and assessments to develop action plans that ensure efficient, lean, and effective processes are in place to produce quality delivery of goods and services.
  • Experience in a continuous improvement environment with a track record of achieving significant logistics related savings year on year.
  • Demonstrated strong business acumen, organizational and analytical skills. Working knowledge of other business functions; i.e., EH&S, Quality, Planning, Finance, Maintenance/Engineering and Human Resources.
  • Proven track record of building credible, reliable, customer focused teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative/integrative work style focused on accomplishing objectives.
  • Solid computer skills (Microsoft Office), ERP software experience, SAP a plus.
  • Logistics/supply chain certification desirable.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
