Job Summary:

The Operations Manager is responsible for managing personnel, planning, and executing daily operations of a 7-day online retail Transloading operation located in the Savannah/Port Wentworth, Georgia, area and reports directly to the Facility Manager. This is a salaried exempt position and is eligible for medical benefits, paid holidays and vacation, and related benefits.

Responsibilities include:

• Directs the daily functions of a large work force of supervisors, forklift operators, material handlers, clerks, truck drivers and other personnel

• Sets goals and creates plans to achieve the daily, weekly, and monthly goals, including safety, accuracy and productivity while maintaining a critical sense of urgency

• Works well with, is inclusive of, and motivates all levels of employees and diverse workforce, including temporary workers, especially during high volume peak and seasonal demand cycles

• Interacts and communicates with customers while effectively satisfying customer demands

• Performs other duties as assigned and assists in other areas as needed

Working Hours and Travel Requirements:

• The Operations Manager must be prepared to work and support any shift as needed. The standard warehouse and office hours are Monday to Friday from 8a to 5p, but may vary or change, with weekend shifts year-round, and working other shifts as required, as business dictates, including 24/7 coverage and possibly holidays at times. Extended hours of any shift is a common need. Responsible for ensuring that we have supervisory coverage across all shifts.

• This role will require travel at times, <10%, to support business needs for training and possible support in other locations.

Operations Manager Qualifications / Skills:

• 5 years or more of management experience in a large Distribution Center, or other high-volume logistics facility, with career demonstrated increasing responsibilities

• Knowledge of the retail industry from a supply chain perspective and be familiar with Port operations and functions

• Thorough understanding of transportation functions, including Steamship Lines, local drayage, over the road carriers, and the interaction amongst these entities is required

• Proficient and experienced with Warehouse Management System software, scanning hardware, and other related software

• Microsoft Office; Word, PowerPoint, Excel (key skillset)

• Education: College degree preferred but not required based on equivalent experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
