About the role


We have an exciting opportunity for a Warehouse Operative to join our Kerry Team in Cam, near Dursley in Gloucestershire.


It is a permanent position, Monday – Friday from 08:00 to 16:00. During periods of increased demand, voluntary overtime with increased pay is available.


Kerry Cam site is a well-established, small factory with about 35 employees. It is a regional centre for Gum Acacia production, which is used for global food, beverage, and pharmaceutical markets. The site has onsite parking, and it is located close to Cam & Dursley train station (less than 15 mins walk) and bus stops (2 mins walk).


The Warehouse Operative role is a multi-departmental function intending to lead out or provide support in completion of tasks in the following areas:


  • Goods In/Out
  • Site Hygiene
  • Production Support
  • Warehouse

An experience as Warehouse Operative, Stores Person, Forklift Operator and similar is advantageous.

Key responsibilities


Main Objectives of the role are:


  • To ensure, that all incoming Raw Materials are checked, identified and labelled; and all finished product is correctly loaded and despatched ready for onward delivery.
  • To maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the site.
  • To support manufacturing areas to make sure, that finished packed product follow customer specification.
  • To keep inventory accurate and up to date
  • To optimise all racked areas and make sure, that specific zones are correctly managed.
  • To work with key supply chain contracts to ensure that end to end business operation is consistently managed.

To support main objectives, your responsibilities as a Warehouse Operative will include:


  • Working to develop and deliver daily in/out transport schedules. Checking off loads against inbound delivery and booking onto the system. Creating labels for loads, booking in and despatching from Cam via SAP system.
  • Correct use and checking of FLT & PPT equipment.
  • Reporting of any quality or quantity issues.
  • Management of trailer activities with supply chain and third-party logistic providers.
  • Carry out & document regular racking inspection checks.
  • Carry out manual hygiene duties or operating equipment/machinery when required, like forklift trucks, pressure washers, scrubbers etc.
  • Organize warehouse and work area to maintain order.
  • Take a proactive role in internal and external site hygiene duties
  • Following production schedules to achieve 100% attainment to plans.
  • Understand and participate with any Continuous Improvement projects within the value stream.

Qualifications and skills


  • Forklift experience essential. Refresher course possible. Valid Forklift truck (Counterbalance) License beneficial
  • COSHH Awareness certificate
  • PPT & Scissor lift experience beneficial
  • Good communicator
  • Ability to work unsupervised for long periods of time
  • To work within Health & Safety guidelines
  • Good computer skills are essential; previous SAP knowledge is beneficial
  • Ability to follow written instructions
  • Ability to train & operate various lifting equipment
  • An understanding of general manufacturing processes
