Job Summary
A person in this position operates one or more washing machines to wash household linens, garments, curtains, drapes, and other articles. Work involves the following: manipulating valves, switches, and levers to start and stop the machine, control the amount and temperature of water for the lathering and rinsing of each batch; mixing and adding soap, bluing and bleaching solutions, loading and unloading the washing machine, if not done by loaders or un-loaders (pullers), and may make minor repairs to washing machine.

Primary Duties

These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.

  • Load, run, and unload washers and dryers.
  • Fold assorted linens and separate according to type and department.
  • Assist the Truck Driver with all duties including loading and unloading the truck, packaging linens for delivery, and making deliveries when needed.
  • Inspect and remove any damaged items from circulation, return them to proper owner.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Coordinates work schedule to ensure timely and effective completion of workload.
  • Ensures that the work area is clean, organized, and stocked.
  • Maintains files and records; tracks work completed.
  • Reports all maintenance and building issues to PM.
  • Tracks product usage and reports when supplies are low to PM.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

  • High School diploma, General Education Development, or equivalent knowledge preferred.
  • Custodial experience preferred, but no experience is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Lift at least 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to bend, turn, twist, and fold.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in oral or written form.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Valid driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation to perform work-related travel required. Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR).
