Exciting things are happening at our Hull, Massachusetts wastewater treatment facility! The plant is undergoing a comprehensive upgrade that will make it a state-of-the-art Wastewater treatment facility able to handle anything that the New England weather and seasonal population can throw at it. Our Hull, MA staff is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and collections system, including remote pump stations. If you enjoy working outdoors protecting nature’s precious resource, water, this position is for you. Candidates utilize basic mechanical and pumping equipment repair skills and have experience with electrical systems to provide maintenance and repair around the facility. Our operators participate in an “on call” rotation for plant coverage outside normal workday hours and shifts will include weekends.
Normal work day hours are 7:00AM – 3:30 PM Monday through Friday, with some weekends and storm coverage. Must be able to work occasional holidays and as required for emergency call outs on rotation.
Typical responsibilities include:

Participates and may lead the daily operations & maintenance of the wastewater treatment facility as directed by the Plant/Project Manager.

Performs preventative maintenance and repairs, as well as operates all plant equipment.

Become familiar with preventative & corrective maintenance procedures common in the water and wastewater industry.

Performs daily checks of the plant to document operational status and maintenance requirements.

Assists in maintaining a complete and accurate on-site log book and records in accordance with federal, state & local permits.

Monitors and controls assigned tasks ensuring cost-effective service is provided within the budget.

Coordinates to ensure that other plant employees follow established administrative, safety, and operating policies.
What will you need to succeed?

Massachusetts Grade 5 or higher Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License is preferred, or the ability to obtain through the operator’s exam or reciprocity. W&C will train the right candidate for success!

3 or more years’ experience in a wastewater treatment facility, operation, and maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education is preferred.

Fluency with computers, including an ability to work with: SCADA, Microsoft Word, Excel, Maintenance Management Programs, and other site specific systems.

Experience preferred in the operation and maintenance pumps, compressors, and plumbing fixtures.

High School or trade school diploma is required, an Associate’s Degree preferred.

A valid Massachusetts Class D motor vehicle operator's license required.

OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety certification a plus.

Ability to read, interpret, and apply instructions from drawings, SOPs, and specifications for work assigned.

Must be able to lift or move up to 40 lbs on a regular basis.

The salary ranges given below are a national average only and may be different for this role based on specific collective bargaining agreements or contract requirements.
Please reference this project specific pay range instead. In addition, for facilities that are unionized and receive benefits through the union, the benefits may differ from what is listed.
Project Specific Pay Range: $24.00 - $30.00 an hour.

Pay:
This position’s anticipated pay range is provided below; final exempt salary or non-exempt hourly pay will be dependent on experience level as well as considering a % based geographic differential based on where the final candidate will be working. Geographic differentials are used to recognize and reflect cost of labor differences between geographic markets.
Annual Incentive Bonus Opportunity:
Eligible positions may receive an annual cash bonus based on the role’s organizational level, and is represented as a percentage range of eligible earnings**
