SUMMARY
The City of Chicopee’s Department of Public Works – Water Department is hiring an Water System Maintenance Worker to assign to Hydrant Maintenance to be primarily responsible for maintain the City-owned fire hydrants including but not limited to repairs and rebuilds, flushing, replacement of worn meters, and overall assistance with water system maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE
- Maintain City-owned fire hydrants and hydrant records
- Lubricates hydrants, inspects hydrant rods, thrust plates and nozzles on a regular basis.
- Flushes city owned fire hydrants
- Assist with installation of water services
- Must be available to assist with snow removal operations, during normal working hours but also for evenings, weekends, holidays.

- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 2 Years of experience in hydrant maintenance
- Must possess a CDL-Class B
- Must possess a Massachusetts Water Distribution License Grade 2
