WATER SYSTEM PROJECTS SUPPORT LEADER - WINDHAM WATER WORKS

Storrs, CT

Windham Water Works seeks qualified applicants for the position of Water System Projects Support Leader.

Under the direction of the Water Superintendent, the Water System Projects Support Leader performs highly responsible work to support the smooth running of Water Department projects on a day-to-day basis. This person will run the Department’s Lead Service Line regulatory program and its Asset Management program. The person will assist in project design, engineering projects, reviewing of plans, drafting, tracking, and writing of specifications for grant applications for various projects; supervises the inspections of projects under construction, the administration of proposals, bids, contract documents, project activities, and processes to support the department’s programs and implementation efforts to achieve its goals. The individual must be capable of comprehending and navigating various local, state, and federal rules and regulations. This person must be highly organized and able to multitask projects, processes, and programs while maintaining records, maps, and investigating problems to resolve project issues.

Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of combined experience working for a medium or large water and/or wastewater utility, or in the commercial/industrial construction field leading multiple projects. A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university in Civil Engineering or a related field; or in lieu thereof, an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification and pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) License, and/or highest-class water/wastewater licenses are preferred, but not required. Proficient use of Microsoft Office is required. Experience and ability to perform correspondence training courses is required. Experience with GIS Systems, AutoCAD, and Hydraulic Modeling Software, desired. Must possess and retain a valid Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferred.

This is a full-time exempt position (40 hrs/wk); Salary Grade 8; Salary Range $75,428 to $91,265.
