The WAP Training Manager is responsible for managing, training, and developing members in the volunteer Cohanzick Climate Corps Program preparing them to qualify for BPI certification.

Essential Job Duties

Administrative

  • Obtain member training materials and facilitate member use of program laptop computer/tablet as needed
  • Maintain own advanced training and certifications e.g. BPI
  • Participate in developing and updating program curriculum to include new technologies and repair techniques
  • Conduct timely skills assessments for all trainees at specified intervals and enter into tracking system
  • Sign-off on members who have achieved all required skills or develop action plans for members who fail to progress or lack the appropriate attitude and work ethic
  • Participate in scheduled remote team meetings to discuss member progress and program needs
  • Maintain training records for the purpose of reporting student progress to program funding sources and State of New Jersey Dept of State.
  • Monitor and report weekly production/hours of the member Corps and increase production goals as appropriate

Shop / Hands-On

  • Deliver and manage all instructional and hands-on training in weatherization installation to participants in CCC.
  • Direct and supervise daily activities members simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and assign all jobs and learning assignments throughout each workday
  • Train students in high-quality air-sealing methods and industry-approved guidelines and State Field Manual.
  • Dispatch jobs to students according to skillset and supervise work quality and production for every installation
  • Instruct students to read work orders and home energy assessments
  • Engage members daily as individuals and as a team; identify successes and achievements and recognize opportunities, address, and solve them to ensure members feel equally valued and included
  • Maintain the production and job-site area by directing members to clean/organize as needed and report safety hazards or required immediately
  • Demonstrate and maintain proper use of PPE and other safety equipment.
  • Perform weekly inspections of personal and member PPE and repair or replace as needed.
  • Follow established program curriculum/skills assessment benchmarks to promote consistency throughout the program
  • Perform other related duties to ensure quality and timely completion of installation jobs and further members learning

Skills/Requirements

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required
  • Must have a valid drivers license and be eligible for coverage under NAAC insurance policy (Not an excluded driver)
  • Comply with all OSHA safety requirements, respirator safety, and fitment/usage. Maintain compliance to pass required safety mask fit test
  • Must have at least 10 years of prior experience as a finish carpenter, weatherization technician or similiar trade.
  • Must have a documented history of performing high-quality repairs to above-industry standard using approved techniques and required corrosion protections
  • Must have a proven track record of high-efficiency production with a consistently approved inspection rates.
  • Understands how to obtain and follow OEM or other industry-approved repair procedures
  • Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines for production installation and program documentation and reporting
  • Must be detail-oriented and possess above-average organizational skills with an ability to multi-task
  • Ability to operate a computer for related activities e.g. researching repair procedures, documenting member progress, online learning, etc.
  • Ability to effectively train members in a patient, caring, positive, and upbeat manner. Be approachable.
  • Ability to recognize student concerns or training difficulties and modify training techniques to accommodate them
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of personalities and collaborate as needed
  • Ability to meet outcomes with minimal or no direct daily supervision
  • Must have a commitment to excellence and create a positive training experience for each individual

Education and Minimum Qualifications
✓ Must be 21 years of age
✓ Have a high school diploma or equivalent
✓ Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States
✓ Satisfy the National Service Criminal History Check eligibility criteria according to 45 CFR 2540.202.
✓ Must have reliable transportation and possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license and current insurance if using a personal vehicle for company work.

Essential Functions
✓ Motivate and coordinate a team of AmeriCorps Members in a structured program of service, education, and training while serving alongside Members in support of the AmeriCorps Coordinator.
✓ Plan daily and weekly team schedules that will result in the execution of project objectives and activities. Coordinate service-learning projects, locally or remotely.
✓ Assist and support Member development of leadership skills. Ensure the development of good service habits on site as well as career and interpersonal skills off site.
✓ Coordinate project logistics with relevant program staff and AmeriCorps Members; and serve as a programmatic and administrative liaison between Members and staff.
✓ Support Members in identifying new creative ways to engage direct and indirect service into virtual services.
✓ Conduct regularly scheduled team meetings designed to unify team members by building consensus, negotiating, and providing structured feedback.
✓ Conduct or coordinate training such as skill building workshops, safe work practices, team-building exercises, and mini-courses.
✓ Assist with the collection of Member reports through provision of reminders. ✓ Respond to Member questions as required in connection to program operations.
✓ Promote Cohanzick Climate Corps AmeriCorps Program in local communities and to the media.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.50 per hour
