Part-time shifts available:
This position is for EVERY OTHER weekend (Saturday 7am-10am and Sunday 7am-1pm). Alternatively, we will also consider the option for one weekend day each week (Saturday or Sunday).

The Mindful Mutt, a new dog daycare and boarding facility newly opened in Allston Village at 16 Harvard Avenue. Founded in 2018 and serving hundreds of happy clients, The Mindful Mutt has expanded to its first brick-and-mortar location in the heart of Allston. JOB DESCRIPTION:

• This morning shift starts promptly at 7am with taking the boarding dogs out to go to the bathroom, and feeding them breakfast. Supervision and safety of dogs is of utmost importance.
• Taking dogs out for potty breaks / walks no matter the weather outside
• Follow precise written and verbal instructions on feeding and caring for the dogs in our care.
• Check-in/out playgroup clients using our software program and ensure accurate billing for each account
• Communicate what dogs did that day by writing it down (ex: "learned how to jump over hurdles today!" or "did 4MPH on the treadmill today!")
• Clean and sanitize thoroughly, which includes picking up poop, mopping the floors, and keeping the training equipment clean (this is the least glamorous part of the job!)
• After training is complete, this will be a solo position -- you will be working by yourself with a small group of dogs for the 6-hour shift, so confidence in your abilities, judgement, and communication is essential.
• The possibility to cover weekday shifts for co-workers once fully-trained

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Preference to applicants living within a 15-minute commute
• Love dogs and able to put their needs and well-being first
• Able to work independently and make decisions based on training
• Experience with animals preferred
• Great customer service and interpersonal communication skills
• Open to learning and enjoys positive feedback as well as feedback for areas of growth
• Self-starter, self-motivated
• Team player attitude, willing to help out coworkers
• Able to follow procedures and instructions
• Punctual arrival to work
• Able to lift up to 50 lb
• COVID-19 vaccine required
• Many people think working at a dog daycare is just "playing with puppies all day." This is far from reality. Although we do get to enjoy being with the dogs, it is real work with real responsibilities, and there is ALWAYS something that needs to get done. We always aim to better our skills with dog handling and often work on new tips and tricks to improve. If you are an active person who enjoys working hard, learning new things, and getting the added benefit of playing with dogs, this might be the perfect job for you!
