Salary – £50 – £65K per annum

The Candidate:
The successful candidate will act as a senior technical resource within Wintel Operations and play an important role in implementing optimised processes and management practices that result in infrastructure, systems and services, which is reliable, scalable, secure, efficient, well controlled and documented, adhering to ITIL best practices.
Please note that candidates must be eligible for SC Clearance.
The Role:
This is an excellent opportunity for a talented 3rd Line Engineer / Analyst, experienced in Windows Server and Virtualisation technologies. On offer is a key position working on a broad range of the latest technology, with a team of talented Engineers/ Analysts. This role would ideally be situated on a Hybrid basis in the Hatfield office, but there is scope for other locations to be considered as they have a network of sites.
Duties:
- Installation, configuration, maintenance and support of infrastructure and systems.
- Offering expertise within the team for the resolution of all technical incidents.
- Making a significant contribution in delivering continual tangible and measurable benefits and value in terms of improving customer service & satisfaction and operational efficiency, whilst reducing risk and operational costs.
- Proactively identifying opportunities and create and deliver robust business case proposals to team Manager, improving reliability, stability and efficiency.
- Instigating & orchestrating changes to infrastructure and systems, in line with change control processes
- Facilitating & leading, the management of medium to large technical projects, and complex work packages into BAU operations
- Supporting and mentoring of the more junior members of the team.
- Providing suggestions on continuous service improvement
- Development, production and maintaining of IT documentation.
- Out of hours support for major incidents as part of an on-call rota.
Essential:
- Microsoft Server technologies; MS Server, MS Clustering, Active Directory Services, Group Policy, Windows Terminal Services, Certificate Services, ADFS.
- Linux Server Technologies; Red Hat, Ubuntu, SUSE, CentOS.
- VMware Data Centre Virtualisation, vSphere ESXi, vCenter, SRM/SRA.
- Server Hardware: HPE Apollo, HPE Synergy / One View, HPE Rack/Blade Servers.
- Storage technologies: SAN (HPE 3Par, EMC VNX, HP Nimble), Fibre Channel Switches (Brocade) etc.
- Server Networking including TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, DHCP,
- Ability to undergo Security Clearance.
Desirable:
- Veeam technologies: Veeam Backup & Replication, Veeam One, Veeam Backup for O365 and Veeam Availability Orchestrator
- Quest – Azure AD backup and recovery
- Disaster Recover, Replication and Recovery services
- IaaS and Cloud technologies; Microsoft Azure, Office 365, AWS, RackSpace
- Load-Balancing technologies (JetNexus)
- System Management and monitoring technologies; SCOM, SCCM, ScienceLogic
- Scripting knowledge (PowerShell)
- Anti-virus technologies; MS Defender for Endpoint
- Experience supporting large/enterprise level infrastructures
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to achieve prompt resolution
- Strong experience of incident and problem management including 3rd party service providers
- Capable of managing concurrent initiatives
- Solid operational understanding of service management standards and tools; Minimum ITIL V3 Foundation qualified
- Industry recognised qualifications including but not limited to Veeam Certified Engineer or Architect (VMCE, VMCA), Microsoft Certified (MCSA, MCSE) and VMWare Certified Professional (VCP)
