POSITION SUMMARY: The Worker’s Compensation Clerk will support the Worker’s Compensation team through a variety of tasks under the direction of the Worker’s Compensation Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Documenting patient information in SOAP format after each medical visit.
  • Schedule appointments for injured workers according to written protocols and enters information into the computerized scheduler.
  • Assist with follow up phone calls providing basic first aid recommendations to injured workers
  • Provide basic education and information to injured workers, making sure questions are answered.
  • Submit initial visit authorization to clinic.
  • Keeping patient records updated, upload relevant documents into the electronic file.
  • Assist with the follow-up of specialty care referrals and services.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bilingual, English, and Spanish preferred.
  • Clinical Medical Assistant Certification is preferred.
  • Valid California driver’s license required.

Skills and Abilities

  • Able to read, write and communicate effectively.
  • Basic mathematical skills including addition and subtraction.
  • Able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Able to use both hands, arms and have good eyesight.
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
  • Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, kneel, stretch, and squat for long periods of time.
  • Strong communication skills with staff, physicians, and patients.
  • Must have good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workflow in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to prepare more complex documents in Microsoft Word, including creating tables, charts, graphs and other elements.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel to review and compile data, including the use of formulas, functions, lookup tables and other standard spreadsheet elements

  • Status: Hourly

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
