In-Person Full-Time Position in Castro Valley, CA (Non-Exempt)
Reports To: Youth Outreach Manager

Our services include emergency shelter, transitional housing, rental subsidies, mental health services, and wrap around services. All our services are trauma-sensitive and client-centered and are provided at no cost to our clients. There are no barriers to participate in our programs.

What You Will Do
You will report to the Youth Outreach Manager. This position is expected to be in charge of running the daily operation of The Hangout, our youth center. In this role, you will be responsible for the administrative aspect of The Hangout. You are also expected to provide support to the youth coming on site, research resources, connect with Case Managers, communicate with Youth Services residential programs, and assist in facilitating activities and groups for our youth.
What qualifications are required for this position?
You Are Also:
- At least 2 years of experience in administrative work.
- You must have strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- You must have strong computer skills.
- You must be highly organized, detail oriented, flexible and able to multitask.
- You must possess an understanding of the dynamics of trauma sensitive care.
- The state mandated 40-hour Domestic Violence counselor certification is required.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
- Must possess a valid CA driver's license, proof of insurance, and be approved by Ruby's Place insurance as a driver in order to drive agency vehicles.
- Background check, fingerprinting (Live Scan), completion of all Community Care Licensing documents are required. All licensing requirements of Community Care Licensing must be met.
What You Will Do
You will report to the Youth Services Manager. This position is a hands-on position, running the operation of The Hangout by Ruby's Place. In this role, you will assist the Youth Services Manager in the daily operation of The Hangout, working directly with the youth, answering our phone lines, providing peer counseling to clients on site, researching resources to provide the youth and sharing with the Youth Services team.
Responsibilities include
1. Answer phone line and provide customer service accordingly.
2. Research and maintain a log of resources for youth.
3. Coordinate with donors for donation drop off and organize donations accordingly.
4. Communicate with programs regarding donations, mail, etc.
5. Placing orders (i.e, office supplies, cleaning, etc)
6. Schedule monthly cleaning for all residential programs.
7. Updating internal website.
8. Provide emotional support to youth on site.
9. Practice active listening to clients.
10. Basic maintenance and cleaning tasks.
11. Provide confidential, client centered, holistic, trauma sensitive services.
12. Assist with general program operations.
13. Keep up with the calendar of activities at The Hangout.
14. Update the informational boards at The Hangout with new resources.
15. Assist in facilitating groups and activities at The Hangout.
16. Send emails to RP Staff to inform of any updates or events taking place at The Hangout.
17. Work with the communications department for social media content.
18. Fill out a functional timesheet by assigned due dates and in compliance with the time allocations.
19. Actively participate in reflective supervision.
20. Create and maintain documentation of processes and procedures in relation to duties of the job
21. Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Working Conditions
This role is not eligible for hybrid or remote work. All work is done on-site and all COVID-19 safety protocols must be followed. You must be able to stand for long periods of time and perform physical activities, including lifting up to 25 pounds. You will be subject to frequent interruptions and must be able to multitask and handle stress.
