Wildflowers Academy (WFA) is an inclusive, secular cottage program that is dedicated to providing homeschooled children with opportunities to participate in fun, educational classes with peers of the same age range. We proudly welcome ALL homeschoolers and homeschooling families. Wildflowers Academy is designed to encourage children’s natural curiosities in a safe, welcoming environment and to provide consistent, long-term peer groups to foster friendships. WFA is financially supported by Kentuckiana Homeschool, Inc.
Wildflowers Academy meets for 4.5 hours a day and provides classes for children K-Middle School grade age ranges. For the 2023/24 school year, we will be offering programming Tuesdays.
We are looking for teachers/educators/enthusiasts who work well with elementary age students. The requirements for the position:
- Enjoy working with children
- The 3rd grade teacher will be with the same group of students the entire school day, and plan 4 classes/subjects per day of programming (9:45 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.) on Tuesdays.
- Create lesson plans for your programming days with a focus on hands-on, interactive, socially engaging experiences.
- A desire to impact the future positively
- You do not need an education degree or certification to work with us, but it is preferred! Experience working with children in a group setting is required (eg. classroom, camp counselor, Sunday school, scouts, etc.). Experience developing your own curriculum or programming in a plus.
- Pay for new teachers is $25 per hour. Your pay for each week is for 5 hours in person instruction and 1 hour for lesson planning done at home. Tuesday classes are at our location in the Highlands in regular classrooms. We also provide an additional pay stipend to cover summer lesson planning, classroom set-up time, and open house attendance. Teachers also receive a one-time supply fee from students to help cover classroom material costs.
- We want you to love working with us as much as the kids love our program. Teaching children who genuinely want to be in your classroom is a rewarding and fulfilling path that we want to offer you! Most classes are capped at 12 students. Our kids count down the days until we are back in session.
