Position Overview

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire an Account Technician I for the Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center located in Anna, Illinois to handle all financial transactions for Side Street Café Enterprises. Assists Accountant Supervisor ensuring the Business Office functions effectively and efficiently. Sets up, maintains, and inputs data to the State’s computerized accounting program for Choate Center’s Living Skills Program, patient travel, Side Street Café Enterprises and a portion of Trust Fund accounts. Constructs monthly cash reconciliation reports for Trust Fund and other special Trust accounts. Travels in performance of job duties.

Job Responsibilities

  • Handles all financial transactions for Side Street Café Enterprises, which includes receiving in and counting the daily cash receipts.
  • Sets up, maintains, and inputs data to the State’s computerized accounting program for Choate Center’s Living Skills Program, patient travel, Side Street Café Enterprises, and a portion of Trust Fund accounts.
  • Independently responsible for creating, coding, keyboarding, and inputting vouchers in the appropriate accounting systems for contractual services and OAE expenses.
  • Assists Accountant Supervisor with special projects by gathering/calculating information/date for these projects.
  • Constructs monthly cash reconciliation reports for Special Trust Fund Accounts and other special Trust accounts.
  • Reviews travel vouchers for accuracy.
  • Constructs and submits in a timely manner any refund or miscellaneous collection received at facility.
  • Works with internal and external auditors as audits are conducted of fiscal operations.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college and completion of an approved training course or three years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
  • Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program should follow the Upward Mobility Policy Guidelines when applying for this title.

  • Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
  • Requires ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
