Accountant

Working for a nonprofit organization can be fulfilling in a variety of ways. If you have a servant’s heart and experience working in the nonprofit space, you probably know exactly what we mean! This nonprofit organization is currently in search of a strong and collaborative Accountant to join the team.

Located in central SA and in a laid-back environment, the Accountant will be responsible for performing accounting and analytical work such as classifying, examining, analyzing accounting records/financial transactions, and generating financial reports.

Responsibilities of the Accountant:

• Daily posting of banking activity to the general ledger and monthly reconciliation of transactions.
• Analyze general ledger accounts; prepare, review and post journal entries and adjustments.
• Perform account analysis for any discrepancies or variances identified.
• Prepare and assist with year-end audit work papers for external auditors.
• Analyze, review and perform restricted fund accounting.
• Assist with quarterly and annual financial reporting.
• Prepare balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement on a quarterly basis.

The Accountant should be able to:

• Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Interpret and analyze financial documents and reports.
• Prepare a variety of financial statements, reports, and analyses.
• Work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

What type of background is needed from the Accountant?

• Bachelors degree
• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Knowledge and understanding of GAAP and debits/credits
• Accounting experience in a non-profit setting is a plus!!
