Job Overview:
An Accountant I in this area is responsible for the timely and accurate accounting and reporting of sales and gross margin for the non-retail aspects of the corporation, including Cost Departments, Workroom Departments, and Other Cost of Sales. This position helps ensure all accounting is in strict compliance with GAAP, assists with internal and external audit questions, is responsible for the financial planning for 2-3 components of the above metrics and communicates with senior planning management both in Cincinnati and New York. Participation in the timely and accurate forecasts is also required for consolidation into the corporate forecast. Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate financial plans with business partners, develop financial plans for certain areas.
- Collect and communicate forecasting statistics from business partners, consolidate and participate in the submission of the corporate ROF.
- Create financial analyses, design and execute queries against financial databases.
- Monthly closing of Gross Margin components for financial statements, communicate exceptions to divisions, follow-up on responses.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, analyze and report variances, create consolidated reports as needed.
- Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
- 1-2 years related experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel is required, knowledge of databases queries preferred.
- Highly organized and detailed.
- Practices open and continuous communication, values keeping others informed, effectively presenting information in a clear, concise manner.
- Excellent leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across functional lines and at many levels.
- Ability to think creatively, strategically and technically
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and Company needs.
