This is an exempt (salaried) position $54,039.04- $67,548.80 Pay rates are based on education, skill, experience level and internal equity. The Finance Department is a team of professionals that are tasked with functions including capital and debt planning, investments, accounting, payroll, procurement, grant management and payables along with providing additional fiscal support to departments across the County.
The Ideal candidate with perform professional and complex accounting work involving the preparation and/or maintenance of financial or related records. This position, under minimal supervision, is responsible for establishing and maintaining financial records which may include budgets, expenditures, and revenues. Prepare, review, analyze, and submit a variety of complex and/or special reports, reconciliations, work papers, communications, schedules, tables, and/or statements to and from internal departments, financial institutions, and external agencies.
Position Summary
Perform professional and technical accounting work for an assigned area or County department. This position, under general supervision, is responsible for preparing projections, financial reports and budget documents ensuring compliance with local ordinances and state statutes. This position is in the Finance Department-Department Financial Services Division budget team. In partnership with an Accountant III works with assigned County departments to prepare and monitor budgets.
Essential Functions
- Prepare, review, analyze, and submit a variety of reports, reconciliations, communications, schedules, tables, and/or statements to and from internal departments, financial institutions, and external agencies
- Resolve moderately complex reconciliations and account analysis problems requiring in-depth research
- Audit, compile, calculate, and analyze a variety of financial data and transactions
- Participate in developing and implementing financial procedures related to data accumulation, reporting, and archiving.
Experience with cash handling, recording cash receipts, and bank reconciliation.
Experience with month & year end account reconciliations.
Experience preparing financial reports.
Experience developing and managing operating budgets.
Prepare a variety of financial and accounting records and reports including revenue and expenditure reports, executive summaries, and aging reports
- Maintain records of account entries by compiling and analyzing accounting activities
- Oversee specific accounting operations, or a complex segment of the accounting function
- Coordinate with other departments to assess needs and requirements for accounting matters
Minimum Qualifications Experience:
Minimum of three years in Accounting or Finance.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted
Licenses and Certifications
May require a North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License
