The Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics (AMS) at the Colorado School of Mines (Mines) is hiring for a full-time Administrative Assistant III to help support the department.
AMS delivers academic programming, conducts scholarly research, and provides department, university, and professional service to advance the Mines mission. AMS coordinates and delivers the four Math courses in the CORE required of all Mines undergraduates for graduation, including Calculus I-III and Differential Equations. Approximately 5000 students (i.e., total course enrollment is 5000 students/seats) take these classes each year. Additionally, AMS research funding totals more than $1M. Finally, AMS has a vibrant graduate and undergraduate population that is active in AMS academic, social, and outreach clubs and organizations as well as the Mines community as a whole.
Responsibilities:
This position will ensure superior departmental administration of the largest instructional unit on campus. The addition of this position will allow continual and consistent coverage of the main office as well as timely support of faculty and students and will provide day to day management of the Main Office, broad administrative support of the department, and event coordination.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Three years of administrative support experience which includes office front desk reception and proficient computer skills. You must be a current Colorado resident in order to apply for this position.
Substitutions:
Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Publisher
- Experience with data management and marketing tools
- Well versed in social media platforms
- Prior relevant state experience in higher education administration working within an academic setting
