Hopewell Health Centers is a nationally accredited federally qualified health and community mental health center with 23 sites across TEN counties throughout Southeastern Ohio (Athens, Franklin, Gallia, Hocking, Jackson, Meigs, Perry, Ross, Vinton, and Washington). We are currently seeking an Adult Peer Specialist to join our Athens, OH Behavioral Health team.

As an Adult Peer Specialist, you will work as a member of an interdisciplinary team to implement and monitor treatment for individuals being served by the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team. This position involves participation and implementation of program goals and objectives to promote a strengths-based, wellness-informed, client centered approach to assisting individuals being served in achieving person-driven goals. Some responsibilities of the Adult Peer Specialist include but are not limited to:

• ACT Team providers deliver quality, person and family-centered, medically necessary, rehabilitative, culturally competent interventions including but not limited to: assessment of needs, skills building/empowerment, crisis management and intervention, advocacy, education/training, eliminating barriers, coordinating/linkages, and monitoring utilizing a team-based approach. The ACT Peer Specialist operates as a member of the ACT Team with full responsibilities permitted based on scope of practice.
• Assist Person Served in choosing, obtaining and keeping wellness and healthy lifestyle and identifying steps to take to achieve a health and wellness related goals, assist with coordinating medical appointments, work with clients on housing, vocational, medication management within scope of practice.
• Help a Person Served work through the process of identifying health and wellness related goals
• Provide structure and support to promote personal progress and accountability.
• Compile and share wellness and healthy lifestyle resources for Person Served, ACT Team, other staff and ACPST Peer Specialists.
• Promotes consumer engagement in therapy with clinicians, engagement with psychiatric appointments, adherence with the healthcare registry, involvement and engagement with wellness services and engagement with primary care.
• Provides self-help recovery services and other peer wellness services.

What do we look for in our Adult Peer Specialists??

• HS Diploma or Equivalent
• Eligible to work in the United Stated
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Certified Peer Recovery Supporter (PSR) in Ohio by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services within six (6) months of hire.
• Position requires good verbal and written communication and organizational skills,
• Shows enthusiasm, respect, adaptability, flexibility, and spirit of cooperation in the work environment.
• Previous Experience working as a Peer Recovery Supporter in a Behavioral Health Setting is a preferred.
• Demonstrates ways to become empowered and self-responsible.
• Able to communicate and role-model themselves as practicing wellness in their personal habits and relationships.
• Ability to work with consumers with diverse backgrounds
• Knowledge of recovery based concepts with a personal history as a consumer of mental health services.
