POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for planning and implementing day-to-day operations of the Connect After School and Summer grant funded Program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Work in close collaboration with teachers, students, volunteers, school staff, student support team (if applicable), to identify, recruit and serve participants in the intensive academic extended-day activities three times a week, 24 weeks per school year and 4 weeks per summer.
Work with school’s staff and Neighborhood House to design this academic after school program that meet objectives of required grant outcomes/outputs.
Responsible for overall coordination of after school operations, including scheduling, recruitment of classes and participants, selection of participants, enrichment activities and site supervision of after school and summer activities.
Survey and assess community needs and strengths for meeting needs with students and families
Recruit, screen and aid in hiring for after school and summer program staff members and volunteers
Coordinate and purchase food supplies, and curriculum supplies for after school snacks for participants.
Act as a backup or floater teacher when needed or available and participate in programing with students in a kind and professional manner
Develop and maintain a collaborative partnership with staff members at Home Forward's Stephens Creek Crossing (SCC) and visit SCC when applicable to connect with families and participate in community events.
Under direction of the Youth and Family Services Program Manager and Principal, responsible for program development of 4-week academic summer program activities at SCC which include coordination of weekly field trips.
Work collaboratively with school’s staff to refer families in need of social services to Neighborhood House resources and/or other community organizations.
Develop positive student relationships to foster a relationship of trust and support students’ achievements and work with students to help problem-solve conflicts and develop social skills as needed.
Work collaboratively with school staff to increase parent or family involvement by hosting 3 family education events. Engage families of participants in their child's education by making regular contact with families and connecting families with their child's school-day and after school teacher(s).
Develop program materials, brochures, forms and registration materials following Neighborhood House and/or the funding organization’s guidelines, as approved by the Youth and Family Services Program Manager.
In partnership with Neighborhood House’s Development Department and Program Manager, perform outreach to local businesses and companies to solicit volunteers and resources to enhance after school activities.
Assist in writing and submitting grant proposals to expand Hayhurst Elementary/ SCC After School Program.
Responsible for accurate recordkeeping and timely submission of required reports, such as mid-year and end-of-year grant reports, participant program attendance, and other program reports as needed.
Assist Youth and Family Services Program Manager with after school program's budget tracking.
Attend school meetings (faculty, PTA, et al.) or community meetings as requested.
Participate collaboratively in major school events as needed.
Attend Neighborhood House Youth & Family Services staff meetings and all-staff meetings.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, or related field and three (3) years full-time experience with elementary school-aged youth or educational programs; with one (1) year of supervising employees is required; program management experience is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Positive and enthusiastic attitude. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently at school location.
Experience & ability to work effectively with multiple organizational partners to deliver services to youth and families. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and exceptional organizational skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills in the areas of problem-solving, conflict resolution, fostering relationships, group planning, program curriculum development and decision-making processes.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Scope of responsibility includes supervision of employees, and volunteers. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Neighborhood House's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring with supervisor approval, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems with the supervisor’s overview.
Provide day-by-day oversight within the department. Responsible for implementing departmental goals under the direction of the Youth and Family Services Program Manager and/or Associate Director.
Network internally and externally to achieve objectives of the department as needed.
Maintain the knowledge base of internal and external regulations and laws necessary to assure compliance in all departmental activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse culturally and socio-economic diverse communities and communicate effectively with those whose English language skills are limited. Excellent oral and written communication and ability to communicate professionally with clients, families, community members and co-workers. Ability to work as a team player. Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.

Requires own vehicle transportation, a valid driver's license, and car insurance acceptable to Neighborhood House's insurance provider.
