Does caring for a homeless pet and helping them find their forever home interest you?

This is a Full time position with the Cat team.

The primary responsibility of the animal care assistant is to provide the cats, dogs, and small critters (rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, occasionally ferrets, chickens and anything else we get in!!) with their daily needs of fresh water and food, clean spaces, prescribed medications, as well as love and socialization, while maintaining a clean and healthy environment at the shelter.

Duties:
* Cleaning and disinfecting cat kennels, little critter cages and other areas of the facility (kitchen and dishes, laundry room and soiled blankets, bathrooms and lobby)
* General care -- Including: feeding, watering, medicating, socializing, observing any behavioral or medical issues and reporting them to a supervisor
* Talking to potential adopters and other customers about the adoption procedures, and other shelter related topics
* Perform miscellaneous duties as instructed by supervisor

Requirements:
* Genuine compassion, concern, and respect for animals
* Dependability and strong work ethic
* Good customer service skills
* Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs
* Must be able to work on feet for long hours
* You will be working with cats that are scared and may scratch and bite.
* Must be able to bend, twist, lift and carry large items
* This is a part time position, and you MUST be available to work WEEKENDS
* Must have reliable transportation (the bus does not go past the shelter)
* Must be 18 yrs old or older
* Previous animal handling experience and knowledge about animals is strongly recommended BUT not necessary
* Personal and work references
