The Ferguson Florissant School District is seeking an outstanding educator to teach Middle and High School Art. The Restoration and Wellness Program will provide an environment of excellence where students are engaged in project-based learning in order to develop a keen understanding of academic content and apply their knowledge. Students will be empowered to take ownership of their learning and encouraged to question and innovate with an emphasis on social and emotional development. In the Restoration and Wellness program, teachers focus on cultivating student growth around the core competencies of our vision which is leading all students to be self-aware, socially responsible, and college, career, and life ready.


JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: Facilitate learning of curriculum and life skills that contribute to the development of mature, capable and responsible individuals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • A valid Missouri professional teaching certificate in Art K-12
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Art

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Plans daily instructional activities for all students including the development of lesson plans, materials, and assessment tools which meet the individual needs of the students.
  • Understands and implements acceleration and differentiation in response to varied learner needs.
  • Holds high expectations for all students and sees themselves as facilitators of student learning.
  • Organizes and uses a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each child, individually and in group settings.
  • Assesses student progress, both formatively and summatively, providing parents, students, and administrators with specific feedback regarding individual student performance and uses the results to adjust instruction as needed.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Takes responsibility for teaching the district curriculum as outlined in the curriculum documents.
  • Keeps abreast of current developments through a professional growth plan.
  • Participates in school and district activities.
  • Establishes and maintains a functional, attractive, orderly, and safe classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and builds a sense of community.
  • Manage positive discipline in accordance with the Discipline Code of the District, administrative regulations, school board policies, and legal requirements.
  • Develops a repertoire of strategies to manage student behavior, individually and in groups, in a manner that encourages individual responsibility, self-control, self-discipline, and effective decision making.
  • Contributes to school effectiveness by collaborating with other professionals in a respectful, cooperative, and caring manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must possess strong instructional technology skills and be able to maintain and manage a digital learning space.
  • Incorporate the board-approved anti-racist standards into instructional practices.
  • Engage in professional learning that results in an understanding of the dimensions of wellness, trauma-informed and restorative practices, as well as cognitive and behavioral development.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development leading to proficiency in Missouri Educator Evaluation System.
  • Maintain good attendance.
  • Monitor and provide feedback on the social and emotional development of their students.
