ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATOR (JOB DESCRIPTION)

RESPONSIBILITIES: Directs the day-to-day functions of the facility in accordance with current federal, state and local standards governing LONG-TERM CARE and Health Resources standards to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is provided to the residents at all times. Maintains licensure requirements and budgetary requirements.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be knowledgeable in and demonstrate the ability to provide quality care, a safe environment, and emotional and psychological support for the residents within the facility.
To direct and oversee the day-to-day functions of the facility in accordance with current state and local standards, and with the policies and procedures of Health Resources to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. Must demonstrate ability to communicate clearly and demonstrate oral and written communication skills in English.
Education: An Executive Director will meet one of the following qualifications to ensure that he/she will have the necessary education and experience to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities required of the position:
1. A license as a registered nurse with a combined total of 4 years full-time equivalent education and related work experience.
2. An associate’s degree in health or social services field or business administration and 2 years of work experience in related field.
3. A bachelor’s degree in health or social services field or business administration and 1 year of work experience in related field.
4. A license as a practical nurse with at least 5 years full-time equivalent education and related work experience.
Experience: Prior experience in administration in the healthcare field is preferred. Must be at least 21 years of age.
Certificate/Licenses: (1) Valid driver’s license.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The employee must be able to perform these essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation by the employer, without posing a direct threat to himself/herself or to others. - Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct the facility’s programs and activities.
- Assist each department in the use of departmental policies and procedures.
- Establish rapport between departments so that each can see the importance of teamwork.
- Interpret the facility’s policies and procedures and employees, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, etc., as necessary.

- Assure that all employees, residents, visitors, and the general public follow established policies and procedures.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as calm environment throughout the facility.
- Assist in the recruitment and selection of competent employees.
- Meet with departments on a regular basis, and conduct in-service classes and staff meetings.
- Review and interpret monthly financial statements and provide information to Paramount Health Resources for designated purposes.
- Represent the facility in a positive manner when dealing with outside agencies.
- Assure that the facility is maintained, clean and safe, for resident comfort and convenience, by assuring that necessary equipment and supplies are maintained to perform such functions.
- Assure that adequate numbers of appropriately trained personnel are on duty at all times to meet the needs of the residents.
- Make written and oral reports as required.
- Make bank deposits on a timely basis.
- Assure that the building and grounds are maintained in good condition.
- Review Accident/Incident Reports and establish an effective accident prevention program.
- Maintain an adequate liaison with residents and families.
- Ensure that public information describing the services provided at the facility is accurate the fully descriptive.
- Review and develop a plan of correction for deficiencies noted during survey inspections and provide a written copy to Health Resources.
- Assure that all facility personnel, residents, visitors, etc., follow established safety regulations including fire protection/prevention, smoking regulations and infection control.
- Maintain CONFIDENTIALITY of all resident information.
- Review complaints and make written reports of action taken.
- Make routine inspections of the facility to assure that established policies and procedures are being implemented and followed.
- Make daily rounds to ensure that performance of the staff, the cleanliness of the facility and the wellbeing of residents.
- Counsel/discipline personnel as required.
- Terminate employees when necessary; documenting and coordinating such actions with Health Resources’ Vice President of Operations.
- Assure a positive Marketing Plan and maintain a good public relations program that serves the best interest of the facility and the community.
- Participate in the interviewing and selection of resident for admission to the facility. Provide a tour of the facility and an explanation of the admission procedures.

- Personnel will familiarize themselves and comply with Health Resources Corporate Compliance Policy. Personnel will immediately report internally any compliance violation or suspected violation using the reporting mechanisms identified in the Corporate Compliance Policy.
- The identity of personnel who report a compliance violation or suspected violation will be protected as is reasonably practical. Personnel will not be subject to any form of retaliation for reporting a violation or assisting a compliance investigation.
