JOB TITLE: Fitness & Wellness Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Director of Wellness
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Full time/Hourly

General Description:
The Fitness & Wellness Coordinator is responsible for making a compelling difference in the lives of our residents by providing excellence and innovation in physical wellness that supports an active lifestyle. This position Implements fitness and aquatic programs including health & fitness assessments, one-on-one instruction, personal training and group exercise, conducting them in a safe and responsible manner to enhance the physical and emotional well-being of the residents of Elim Park.
Essential Job Functions:

  • Be an active, familiar, and welcoming face in the Wellness Center. Learn all residents’ names and know their level of strength, balance, flexibility, and endurance.
  • Perform orientations and fitness assessments and mobility reviews for new residents or those using the Wellness Center for the first time to determine the right participation level of exercise classes.
  • Teach all levels of land and water group exercise classes placing emphasis on strength, balance, flexibility, and endurance.
  • Assist the Director of Wellness in creating and leading new exercise classes and wellness programs.
  • Track class attendance and outcomes of wellness programs and monitor feedback for satisfaction.
  • Provide personal training to clients on a fee-for-service basis.
  • Promote fitness and wellness throughout the organization. Offer employee exercise programs.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment with a regular cleaning schedule including exercise equipment.
  • Maintain appropriate fitness & safety certifications.
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job.

Work Area and Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to water and pool chemicals in the pool area.
  • Frequent exposure to temperature and humidity changes.
  • Workstation is shared.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Moderate noise level.

Entry Level Qualifications:

  • Professional certification with ACSM, ACE, AFAA NASM or other nationally recognized certification board required.
  • CPR/AED certification required.
  • Experience working with and teaching older adults preferred.
  • Genuine interest in older adults and patience in dealing with their needs.
  • Basic computer skills required. Knowledge of additional programs such as Excel preferred.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.

Physical Requirements: (with or without reasonable accommodation)

  • Must be in good physical health to meet the essential functions of this position.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and perform aerobic and strength exercise moves on land and in the water.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stretch, reach, balance, squat, kneel or lay on the floor.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for the majority of the day.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision. Depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour
