Position Profile

The Assistant Manager at Pups Of War NJ is an important leader on the store management team. In coordination with other members of the management team, this position is responsible for ensuring all elements of store safety, team member training, guest experience and product sales are executed to Pups Of War NJ standard and ensuring team communication is coordinated and effective. The Operations Manager’s ability to make sound decisions and tackle guest experience challenges is a key element to our success.

This position manages the day-to-day operations of the store, including the maintenance, safety, administrative, and logistical functions. Serving as the Manager on Duty is a primary responsibility. There are four additional areas of focus for the Operations Manager(s). The first is “Keeping it Safe” through successful management of the store/field and ensuring both customers and staff are adhering to safety protocols. This also means maintaining all Pups Of War NJ Safety and Risk Management standards. The second area of focus is Team Member Training and Communication and ensuring the team is well-trained, new Team Members are trained effectively, and all are knowledgeable of store/field offerings and programs. Events planning is the third focus and includes the coordination of the party staff to provide excitement to birthday party and other event groups. The final focus is on the administrative needs in the store; scheduling, inventory management, etc.

The Facility Manager side to this job is to ensure that the store is in good working condition. This includes but is not limited to field attraction maintenance, and other needs.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently demonstrate Pups Of War NJ core values (Safety, Fun, Health, Excellent Customer Service and Deliver Excellence) for Team Members and guests. Motivate the team and drive Pups Of War NJ culture within the store/field.
  • Function as the Manager on Duty (see below) and confidently function in and train all Team Member roles and responsibilities.
  • Deliver on the store/field monthly departmental goals by anticipating and recognizing business opportunities and leading the team to meet them.
  • Adopt and maintain Pups Of War NJ standards, policies and procedures at all times including but not limited to: waiver policy, field rules, guest service, food safety, etc.
  • Provide the team with a welcoming and mutually supportive work environment
  • Resolve guest service issues with discretion and professionalism
  • Ensure Team Members are knowledgeable about all products, programs, and promotions offered
  • Ensure inventory is managed appropriately, and maintain vendor relationships
  • Schedule team to meet the needs of the park and process payroll
  • Ensure the park is clean, organized, and ready to deliver excellence at all times
  • Assist in store/field marketing
  • Execute guest surveys and manage results
  • Supervise weekly inspections of the field, maintenance projects and inventory to ensure all Pups Of War NJ standards are met or exceeded
  • Complete and maintain injury and incident records using the Pups Of War NJ Forms Application. Report all incidents to the General Manger in a timely manner and follow-up with injured guests as needed.
  • Assist in training all new Team Members to successfully function in their Pups Of War NJ roles, provide development and re-training opportunities as needed, and ensure all Team Members receive any necessary training on programs and promotions running in the store/field.
  • Assist in the management of the Event Team to deliver excitement from the first guest interaction through event finalization using consistent processes, coordination of event details, effective communication with guests and development of the guest relationships
  • Assist in developing strategies to drive birthday party bookings and revenue.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

Manager on Duty Responsibilities

The Manager on Duty role is integral to the success of providing exciting experiences to guests at Pups Of War NJ. It includes performing a variety of duties, including opening and closing responsibilities such as assigning tills and preparing deposits, ensuring staffing is adequate to support guests and programs, conducting pre-shift meetings with the team, managing cleaning responsibilities, etc. In addition, the Manager On Duty is tasked with ensuring the store/field is a safe and fun environment by conducting field walks to support the team, interact with guests, and observe and fix any problems with field and rental equipment operations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education: High School Degree or commensurate experience
  • Proven ability to motivate a team and drive culture to create results
  • Ability to solve problems under pressure while maintaining a fun, friendly environment
  • Previous management experience with new-to-the-workforce, part-time staff
  • Previous experience in a guest-facing environment
  • Experience with team scheduling
  • Ability to work nights and weekends
  • Previous cash handling experience
  • Familiarity with website editing and social media skills are a plus
