Assistant Residence Manager
Job description
Cerebral Palsy of Westchester is seeking a full time Assistant Residence Manager.
SUMMARY:
The Assistant Residence Manager will work closely with the Residence Manager to ensure that quality services are provided to all consumers in accordance with Federal, State and Agency standards and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
1. DIRECT CARE RESPONSIBLITIES:
§ Provide basic services, such as food, clothing, hygiene, as well as activities of daily living to all consumers and complete all pertinent documentation.
§ Provide active treatment services through all formal and informal goals, behavior plans and services, as appropriate.
§ Transport consumers on appointments or to scheduled activities and community events.
§ Apply knowledge and skills gained through required training in Medication Administration, Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention, First Aid, CPR, Fire Evacuation and other trainings.
§ Develop and maintain a normalizing relationship with all consumers.
§ Follow policy and procedures for incidents and alleged abuse reporting.
§ Administer medications and other nursing protocols as directed by a nurse and/or residence physician.
§ Ensure that a medication-certified employee is on duty on all shifts.
§ Ensure that established procedures for notifying appropriate personnel verbally and/or in writing of significant events are followed.
§ Encourage consumer independence and provide opportunities for consumers to participate in making choices as appropriate throughout daily routines.
§ Engage consumers in recreational, social, and skill building interactions throughout the course of the day.
2. PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
§ Ensure quality care by developing a thorough Activity Schedule. Assign staff to specific activities and duties. Monitor the implementation of these activities and duties to ensure they are completed in a timely and satisfactory manner.
§ Approve changes in schedules due to illness, weather or other factors.
§ Assist the Residence Manager with orientation and training of new staff.
§ Assist the Residence Manager in monitoring all program data to ensure proper documentation. (Any concerns such as insufficient data, falsification etc. should be reported to the Residence Manager immediately).
§ Ensure that cleaning, maintenance and other lists are completed.
§ Monitor time and attendance of direct care staff and alert the Residence Manager of any concerns.
§ Assist the Residence Manager with the evaluation of staff performance.
§ Maintain a record of staff issues and meet with assigned staff as directed by the Residence Manager.
§ Advise Residence Manager of necessary programmatic changes, needed supplies and maintenance issues.
§ Ensure consumer safety at all times.
§ Participate in clinical, staff, management, team, supervisory and other meetings as directed.
§ Perform other duties as directed by the Residence Manager or an Administrator.
JOB REQUIRMENTS:
§ Utilize leadership skills and maintain a professional relationship with all staff.
§ Demonstrate effective communication, written and time management skills.
§ Collaborate with Interdisciplinary Treatment Team to ensure the highest quality of care.
§ Provide off-hours coverage via an agency cell phone to address needs of consumers and residential staff.
§ Demonstrate ability to conduct disciplinary counseling and staff supervision.
§ Obtain and maintain mandatory certifications such as: Medication certification, SCIP-R certification, CPR certification, Van certificate and other certifications as requested.
§ Maintain a valid New York State driver’s license.
§ Ability to meet the environmental demands of the position such as recreational and leisure activities, hospitalizations/emergency room visits, medical professional appointments, religious services and other functions or events as directed.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
§ Associate Degree with one year experience working with the developmentally disabled.
§ Consideration will be given to those with a high school diploma, three (3) years experience working in a residential setting and at least one year of supervisory experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
