WSP is currently initiating a search for an Assistant Vice President, Site Civil Engineer for our St. Louis office. The Assistant Vice President, Site Civil Engineering position is to work as an integral part of a Civil Engineering team to support the Transportation Facilities Group comprised of Architects, Landscape Architects and Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing engineers. This is a full-time 40 hours per week position working on-site within our St. Louis office.

This candidate should be enthusiastic and self-motivated and will be responsible for assisting technical staff in day-to-day project duties. The primary major projects involving Assistant Vice President, Site Civil Engineer and detailing support are transportation-related site planning, civil engineering design/detailing and landscape design/detailing assignments.


Your Impact

  • Work as an integral part of a Civil Engineering team to support the Transportation Facilities Group comprised of Architects, Landscape Architects and Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing engineers.
  • Work on transportation related projects including streetscapes, highway corridors, bus and rail stations; and various site-specific projects
  • Prepare site development construction documents and drawings including grading, alignments and site layout drawing and models using Autocad Civil 3D and Microstation
  • Prepare site designs, construction detailing and construction documents under supervision of Sr. Civil Engineers and Sr. Landscape Architects
  • Prepare storm drainage hydrology and Hydraulic calculations under supervision of Sr. Engineers
  • Communicate with other design consultants and as applicable, city staff, throughout due diligence, design, and pre-construction phases of development project
  • Perform project research for existing infrastructure and utility improvements
  • Research agency code and development standards and requirements
  • Prepare site quantity and earthwork calculations
  • Prepare reports, schedules and estimates utilizing Microsoft Word and Excel

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Civil Engineering BS degree. Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree or related industry field is beneficial
  • 10+ years’ experience working in prior job-related civil engineering field
  • Previous experience preparing site development construction documents, construction details, obtaining permits from cities and municipalities, preparing conceptual plan design with senior engineers, reviewing topographic and/or boundary surveys and preparing reports based on site reconnaissance
  • Prior design and detailing experience with accessible design, sustainable design and stormwater management, site landscape and parking designs and standards
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in AutoCAD Civil-3D, Microstation, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Knowledge of Revit is beneficial
  • Previous experience preparing storm drainage calculations and some familiarity with storm drainage calculations software such as HydroCAD, Civil Soft Storm and/or HEC-RAS
  • Strong work ethic, high degree of professionalism with the ability to work with and support other designers as a team player and handle interfacing your civil engineering discipline with other engineering and professional disciplines
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills and abilities, including engineering graphic presentations
  • Experience with Autocad and Microstation
  • Experience with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Willing to work in-office during our regular office hours

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Civil engineering licensure
  • Desire to work with multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Desire to learn and practice everything about Civil Engineering and to learn everything about other disciplines related to site design
  • Confidence in your design ability and ability to work with other design professions
  • Confidence in your graphic presentation ability
  • Experience with SketchUp or other visualization software
