Job Responsibilities Include:

  • This position is responsible for assisting in the overall winemaking process in accordance with good winemaking and business practices.
  • Maintain and ensure proper, and safe, operation of cellar equipment.
  • Support Head Winemaker in all facets of wine production as needed.
  • Keep cellar clean, well maintained and organized.
  • Help implement winemaking, collaborate with cellar and lab staff
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of winemaking operations, additions, inventory, and compliance
  • Participate in various events that promote wines to writers, wholesalers, retailers, and consumers
  • Keep current of changing technologies in the field of winemaking
  • Help recruit, hire, train and supervise seasonal staff and full-time cellar crew
  • Oversee bottling line operation, schedule and maintain inbound bottling supplies and monthly bottling supplies inventories including third party bottling
  • Oversee harvest activities, crushing, pressing, racking, additions, etc.
  • Assist in all aspects of off-site production and storage
  • Proficient wine taster with the ability to recognize wine flaws
  • Help cellar staff as needed to complete winemaking goals

Position Requirements:

  • Operational experience with filtration, bottling line operation, forklift use, scissor lift use pumps, presses, hoses, etc.
  • Familiar with typical cellar chemicals, hazards, uses and appropriate disposal
  • Sanitation lead, training and safe use of chemicals, and processes.
  • Confined space training, and compliance
  • Some desk work, vigorous cellar work, ladders, catwalk use, forklift and scissor lift operation.
  • Filling out work-orders, cellar worker timecards, inventory, etc.
  • Minimum of 5+ yrs. winemaking experience.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable transportation, current insurance, and a clean DMV record
  • B.S. in Enology/Fermentation Science or related field.

Your Compensation:

$92,500 - $120,000/yr. based upon relevant experience.
