The Associate Director, Channel Strategy & GPO Account Management will be responsible for account development, integrating deeper and broader with large accounts to gather competitive intelligence and customer insights to better position NVS brands. The Associate Director will develop account specific channel contracting strategies and lead the implementation of customer contract/pricing programs for assigned accounts.

The Associate Director, Channel Strategy & GPO Account Management, will leverage analytics and mod-elling to help create business solutions that meet both external customer and NVS business needs by working cross-functionally with internal executive management while gaining customer insights and payer business knowledge to effectively drive customer satisfaction and maximize Novartis business. Addi-tionally, this position will support the development and cross-functional interaction for optimal US Novar-tis Innovative Medicines pricing, contracting portfolio and Franchise strategies for assigned in-line, launch and pipeline products.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for complete business ownership of assigned Trade and GPO accounts
  • Develop channel account specific and portfolio contract strategies in line with Business Unit sales goals and customer needs; align Account strategy with other key Sales, Marketing, Medi-cal and Managed Care functions and ensures cross-functional support
  • Develop analytics-driven account specific contract strategies in line with Product Strategy sales goals and customer needs
  • Assist strategic account development integrating deeper and broader with large accounts to gather competitive intelligence and customer insights to better position NVS brands on payer formularies and participate in contract negotiations with key assigned Accounts
  • Establish multilevel vendor relationships with assigned accounts allowing for strategic dialogue between parties
  • Leverage analytics to support contract strategies designed to build long-term relationships with assigned accounts, based on deep understanding of the organization, structure, business strat-egy and priorities
  • Builds relationships with significant GPO accounts and stakeholders, including Trade Operations; interfaces with key customers to understand their needs, perspective and issues
  • In partnership with Novartis Trade Operations and Managed Markets Finance, ensure financial and data integrity and adequate data flows between the company and distribution / GPO ac-counts and trade partners;
  • Develop and disseminate distribution related modeling, analytics and reporting to ensure accu-rate information and timeliness
  • Ability to work with internal and external partners to redress pricing and access issues through a deep understanding of Novartis, wholesaler and GPO contracts and systems.
  • Lead negotiations with specified Trade and GPO accounts and end-to end contract execution
  • Close collaboration with cross-functional internal stakeholders including Channel Strategy, Trade, Managed Market Finance and Legal.
  • Develop and implement analytics for all respective accounts to optimize pricing and tactics aligned with organizational priorities
  • Act as a subject matter expert for GPO and distribution network in line and launch products.
  • Provide insight into Novartis products with respective accounts
  • Work within ethical and compliance policies and ensure those around him/her do the same

“This position can be based remotely anywhere in the U.S. (there may be some restrictions based on legal entity). Please note that this role would not provide relocation as a result. The expectation of working hours and travel (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $183,800.00 and $274,200.00 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Minimum requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, Healthy Policy or equivalent preferred
Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience with significant focus in the following areas, including but not limited to Finance, Market Access, or Business Development, with an emphasis on pharmaceutical distribution or GPOs.
  • Previous consulting experience preferred
  • Ability to navigate change
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of US healthcare economics and the drivers of pharmaceutical demand, including pricing and reimbursement
  • Deep understanding of Distribution processes and their roles in the changing market landscape
  • Ability to clearly articulate new or revised deal terms though a demonstrated knowledge of downstream pharmaceutical channels
  • Ability to recognize complex relationships across all stakeholders and market dynamics and to synthesize simplified, direct and effective communications
  • Strong proficiency in contract process, negotiation and forecasting
  • Demonstrated prioritization, organizational and analytical skills as well as the ability to create so-lutions for complex processes and procedures
  • Excellent financial and analytical skills and acumen
  • Ability to design, build and analyze financial models for business cases
  • High level of self-awareness and curiosity with focus on empowering others
  • Demonstrates high degree of emotional intelligence, adaptability and creativity in solution-oriented ideation – results-oriented, fails fast to learn faster, and embodies an agile, growth mindset
  • Deep understanding of US pharmaceutical value chain and its business processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Travel as required
