Position Summary: Under close technical oversight - repair, calibrate, and maintain all types of basic clinical equipment technologies, devices, instruments, and systems. Inspect, install, and provide preventive maintenance of general clinical equipment.
Job Specific Details and Tasks: The duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect a diverse range of therapeutic and diagnostic biomedical instrumentation and equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems.
- Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions.
- Schedule and oversee third-party repair as necessary.
- Education: Minimum of an Associates Degree in a Biomedical Engineering field or completion of a Military Technical Training program in biomedical equipment maintenance.
- Experience: Minimum of six (6) months experience in the repair and maintenance of medical devices/systems.
- Additional Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1) Knowledge of electronic theory, technology, and test equipment. 2) Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology as applied to use of biomedical equipment. 3) Knowledge of color code conventions used in component and wiring marking. 4) Ability to analyze, repair, and test electronic and electromechanical equipment. 5) Ability to perform preventive maintenance inspections. 6) Ability to run diagnostic programs. 7) Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of equipment; to push/pull equipment carts; and to kneel, stand, bend, and reach during equipment repair. 8) Skilled in testing electronic equipment.
- Life Support Certification: Possess and maintain a current AHA or ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
- Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
