Job description
Overview:
- Shoveling, trenching, finishing and/or other various heavy laborer related tasks as outlined by crew foreman or supervisor.
- Assisting crew with spotting utilities for drill operator as needed.
- Using construction equipment on site as needed to perform various job related tasks.
- May also assist in equipment transportation
- Keeping work areas clean before; during and after job completion.
- Maintaining truck and equipment cleanliness; inside and out
- Other laborer duties as assigned by foreman and/or supervisor.
- Commercial Driver's License, preferred but not required
- 6-12 months of work-related experience pertaining to utility construction, telecommunications or laborer related work
- Experiencing locating along with equipment operation experience is a plus.
- Any combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates ability to perform the designated job duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Ability to make common sense understanding to carry out instructions that are provided in written, oral or drawing. Ability to deal with and understand problems involving different variables in many varied situations involving employees, customers and vendors.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts (measurements in terms of distance, proportions, percentages and area. Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret documents such as safety rules and requirements, machine manuals of operation and process procedures. Ability to write information including reports. Ability to speak effectively to customers, coworkers and vendors.
- Must possess a valid commercial driver's license to perform the functions of this position.
- Must be able to pass a company drug screening.
- Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed.
- May be required to work over-time; after hours; on weekends or be on-call as work is needed to ensure work is completed.
- May include working nights and holidays as needed.
- May be required to travel in state or overnight as necessary to meet business needs.
- Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position
Pay Range: The hourly pay range for the Construction Crew Leader position is $19.00 - $22.00 / hour.
