Job description
This position will be filled at either the System Analyst 3 or 4 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
The Software and Applications Engineering (SAE) Division supports Los Alamos National Laboratory's (LANL) enterprise applications and performs software application development support, database development and administration, software quality management, and enterprise application consulting. The Enterprise Resource Planning Business Process Management Solutions Group (SAE-2) provides application development, commercial off-the-shelf application implementation, supports business processes for feature image financial, personnel, procurement, environment, safety and health, quality, human resources, and occupational medicine IT systems.
System Analyst 3 ($99,200 - $164,000)
Working alongside some of the brightest minds, you will work with a team using agile development
methodologies that support existing custom and COST applications. The selected candidates will work as a
System Analyst on IDS (Institutional Data Services) team in the Enterprise Business Software group (SAE-2)
supporting the development and maintenance operations.
On any given day, you will be asked to perform the following functions:
- Attend daily team and work planning meetings.
- Lead Data Governance Working Group.
- Work with various stakeholders in relation to policy and implementation of data governance.
- Provide long term vision and direction for SailPoint IdentityIQ and MicroStrategy products.
- Prioritize work intake and backlog items for the team.
- Collaborate/communicate with customers and colleagues.
- Meet with vendors on a regular basis to help incorporate upgrade and patching schedules for current products.
- Facilitate vendor demos and educational presentations with key stakeholders and customers.
- Show high motivation to learn new technologies, business processes, to become an expert in their field, and the willingness and confidence to develop safety-class, mission-critical software.
System Analyst 4 ($109,100 - $182,000)
In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level you will:
- Role mining and modeling assistance and configuration.
- Provide mentoring to junior staff members.
- Self-initiate work with limited supervision, use independent judgment for determining the course of action to accomplish objectives, and use a broad range of advanced technical skills to solve complex technical issues.
- Provide on-call responsibilities to provide support for production applications are expected.
- Provide knowledge transfer to technical staff.
- Product version upgrades
- Planning and preparation
- Analysis of customer configuration
- Ongoing patch installation
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Software lifecycle knowledge and experience in all phases, including requirements, design, development, and testing with appropriate documentation.
- Experience in customization and development of SailPoint IdentityIQ module.
- Understanding of data governance for large institutions.
- Experience setting internal standards and data policies that apply to data access.
- Understanding ETL process and data virtualization concepts.
- Experience with BI tool, such as MicroStrategy.
- Proficient level of reading and writing SQL/PLSQL queries.
- At least one programming language such as Java, .Net, etc.
- Utilizing tools such as Jira and/or Confluence.
- Experience consuming RESTful Web Services.
Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 8 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be expected.
Additional Job Requirements for System Analyst 4:
In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:
- Demonstrate knowledge of secure coding practices.
- Software configuration management and software quality assurance methodologies and practices.
- Experience writing JDBC connectors.
- Experience with Active Directory, LDAP.
- Experience analyzing and defining business requirements and preparing technical designs.
- Experience supporting, extending, enhancing, and upgrading Commercial of the Shelf Products (COTS).
- IAM (Identity and Management) concepts of identity lifecycle management, role, management, joiner, mover, and leaver processes
- Knowledge with SailPoint IdentityIQ development of workflows, rules, connectors, policies, and other configurations.
Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 12 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be expected.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with Oracle EBS.
- Experience utilizing Scrum or Kanban framework.
- Experience supporting and extending Cloud applications.
- Ability to work independently with a minimal direction and/or serve as a Technical Lean on projects and coordinate technical activities of project personnel. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills with the ability to negotiate and use proper judgment to resolve conflicts, solve problems, increase efficiency, and improve services and products with minimal management help. Demonstrate experience and wiliness to provide technical mentorship to junior staff members.
Work Location: The work location for this position has the potential for remote work. Remote work is defined as working offsite that is greater than 2 hours of the Laboratory location. Reporting onsite may be periodically necessary. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
- Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, October 31st. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
