This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a CAD Manager for our Kansas City, MO office. We are involved in exciting local projects including complete streets, bicycle and pedestrian projects, streetcar, municipal streets, bridge replacements, and major highway projects. WSP offers a flexible work schedule and agile work environment that allows employees to work from home and/or from our modern office space in the Kansas City River Market just steps away from the Streetcar and the City Market.
Your Impact
- Prepare roadway, aviation, traffic, drainage, utilities, survey and construction drawings to support transit, highway, local agency, and other transportation clients.
- Prepare structural details for bridges and other civil works structures. Bridge detailing tasks include modifying client standards and creating new custom details for a specific application.
- Perform various design and quantity calculations
- Develop concept level design for analysis
- Redesign, modify, or edit existing design
- Oversee varied and complex computer-aided drafting and design work
- Develop standards and symbols to meet specialized needs of a particular project
- May be responsible for design tasks of large projects under engineer in charge
- Develop and mentor team members
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- The selected candidate must be able to work in the United States immediately
- Experience with ProjectWise, Microstation, InRoads SS4, Power Civil SS4, Open Roads, Open Roads Designer and or AutoCAD Civil3D
- Formal CADD training preferred and a minimum of five (5) years CADD experience
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Very good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working on KDOT, MoDOT and Kansas City Metro Area municipal projects and standards
- Experience in modelling in Open Roads, Open Roads Designer and or AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Experience in Roadway and Highway conceptual design
- Understanding and familiarity with AASHTO and Kansas, Missouri, or Nebraska State Agency design guides and standards
- Some experience with Alternative Delivery (Design-Build) projects
