This is a 40 hour per week position. EOE
Responsibilities:
Answer and handle telephone calls in an enthusiastic, courteous professional manner. Schedule patient appointments and correctly enter all necessary information into the computer system. Direct calls to appropriate personnel. Process requests and communicate with referring physician offices. Follow through and communicate with appropriate staff to ensure the needs of the patient or caller are taken care of in a prompt manner. When scheduling appointments, collect all pertinent information from patient (insurance and demographics) and enter in computer. Reschedule and cancel appointments as necessary. Although duties may vary by assigned area or shift, the following accurately describes the essential job functions.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years minimum experience in customer service
- Call Center or Patient Scheduling experience preferred
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Work well independently and as a team player
- Possess excellent computer and data entry skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to service all levels (patients, staff, physicians, and leadership team) and age groups
- Maintain a professional, respectful, and friendly image
- Well-organized with attention to detail while working in a fast paced environment
- Excel under pressure and tolerate stress calmly and professionally
- Confident in decision making
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Empathetic with patient needs and concerns
- Excellent speaking and listening skills
- In depth knowledge of insurance plans
- Understand the day-to-day operation and needs of the practice
- Representative of mission and vision of the Illinois Eye Center
