Job description
This position is for a Director of Operations. It is an Exempt/Classified, Non-Represented, at will position. It is 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 260 days per year. Salary and work year established by the Board or it’s Designee. Vacation and benefit package as per District guidelines. This position is part of the District Office, Non Represented Group.

Essential Job Functions:
- Plan, organize and direct the operations of the District including facilities (custodial, grounds, maintenance), capital projects and transportation/motor pool, security/safety. May be assigned to plan, organize and direct risk management.
- Respond 24/7 to emergency situations involving operations; dispatch appropriate team members or vendors, communicate with emergency responders as needed and effectively communicate with appropriate related parties.
- Make recommendations and provide advice and strategies for use in matters of Operations, responsible for identifying operations grant opportunities, preparing/submitting grant applications and administering operations grants, collective bargaining for Operations, school construction, and legal compliance related to operations.
- Responsible for preparing, managing and overseeing the Operations budget; administer the Operations budgets and manage related financial resources to meet District objectives/expectations and support the needs of schools and departments. Monitor and evaluate expenditures within the department to ensure responsible maximization of resources. Prepare and annual budget proposals that reflect thorough assessment of Operations needs while maximizing existing staff and resources.
- Responsible for planning needed work, assessing conditions, leading a team of internal and/or external resources while collaborating with affected internal schools or departments, and completing projects on time and within budget.
- Perform supervisory functions for Operations staff including, but not limited to, position posting requests, applicant screening and hiring processes, staff assignment supervision, staff training, staff evaluation and related supervisory duties.
- Develop and implement formal and informal training programs, with involvement and input from staff and administrators, to ensure Operations employees continue to build and utilize their knowledge and skills to achieve department goals.
Other Job Functions:
- To serve as the Director of the District’s Operations team. Held responsible for results in terms of effectiveness of planning, policies and programs, and for achievement of District goals and objectives. Work is guided by, and must be in compliance with, federal and state law, Board policies, and compliance with state and local regulatory agencies.
- To administer the Operations affairs of the district in such a way as to provide the best possible education and support services with the most effective utilization of the financial resources available.
- Provides supervision, direction and evaluation of Operations department employees including the Capital Projects Coordinator, Facilities Supervisor, Business and Operations Specialist, Custodial, Maintenance and Grounds staff.
- Responsible for the planning, implementing and directing of employees and activities of the Operations department in repairing and maintaining the facilities and grounds of the District.
- Support, plan, cost and execute capital renovation and other major construction projects as necessary/assigned. Lead Bond Community Forum Committee.
- Provides oversight, direction and support to the Transportation Director (Centralia employee).
- Recommends/Prepares Board policies/procedures related to operations.
- Develop and implement a robust preventative maintenance program for the District for all custodial, maintenance and grounds functions.
- Lead, supervise and enforce effective safety procedures, maintain safe working conditions, and facilitate communication and training to prevent injuries and address safety concerns and risks.
- Ensure appropriate prioritization and distribution of work through appropriate monitoring, support and accountability utilizing appropriate resources.
- Performs other duties as identified necessary or as assigned.
