Childcare Supervisor

Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is expanding rapidly to continue its mission of providing homeless families with opportunities and support to transition into permanent housing. HFH helps create lasting solutions for families experiencing homelessness through self-sufficiency planning, goal setting, and achievement. We are seeking a full-time Childcare Supervisor to provide supervision and care for children under 24 months in our North Bronx location.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Actively create and maintain a child-oriented atmosphere.
  • Ensure developmentally appropriate educational, physical, and hygienic care of the children.
  • Supervise and interact closely with children at all times.
  • Ensure respectful interactions with children, parents and staff.
  • Plan daily schedules and ensure a balance of activities to meet the children’s needs.
  • Assist in the day-to-day maintenance of the center.
  • Complete administrative tasks including answering phones, writing reports and filling out forms.
  • Perform other duties as may be requested.
  • Follow all Article 47 procedures in center.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in the social sciences, applied health sciences, or human
    services, or a related degree approved by the Department.
  • One or more years of experience as a group teacher for children under 24 months.
  • Ability to sit on the floor, bend and pick up children through the course of an eight-hour shift.
  • Upon hire candidate may be subject to clearances as required by law and regulations.
