Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Clinical Service Representative II-Registration for the Eric B. Chandler Health Center within Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

The primary purpose of the Clinical Service Representative II-Registration is to perform a variety of simple and complex registration activities at the Eric. B. Chandler Health Center and its affiliate sites under limited supervision.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Provides efficient and courteous services when scheduling patient’s appointments.
  • Utilizes computer to process full registration information for new/established patients at every visit.
  • Determines eligibility for federal and state programs. Determines eligibility and processes applications.
  • Receives, reviews and responds to routine and complex inquiries from patients, colleagues, practice physicians, State Presumptive Eligibility department staff members.
  • Performs cashier duties.
  • Responsible for generating new schedules or daily reports.
  • Provides back-up coverage for Patient Business Services staff for all Units within the Eric B. Chandler Health Center.
  • Communicates work-related problems to the Team Supervisor or Assistant Manager, Patient Business Services.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Two (2) years of experience in physician, hospital or health center billing setting, including management of various types of insurance billing processes.

Certifications/Licenses

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Must be familiar with the billing practices of Medicaid and Medicare.
  • Working with office equipment and confidential patient records and correspondence.
  • Proofread and check documents for accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Physical Demands: This position requires standing, walking, use of hands to finger, handle or feel, ability to reach with hands and arms 1/3 of the time; ability to talk or hear up to 2/3 of the time and sitting over 2/3 of the time. Must have clear vision at 20 inches or less (close vision).
  • Work Environment: Moderate noise level.

Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Additional infection control and safety policies may apply.
