Select Sires Inc. | United States, OH, Plain City Select Sires Inc. seeks an innovative and creative Communications Specialist. As a strong communications team member at Select Sires Inc., the Communications Specialist provides creative development for various projects, product lines, and departments. Responsibilities include editing and designing customer and employee newsletters and e-newsletters, contributing to publication articles, creating and producing printed material to support Select Sires’ brand image, dairy and beef sire lines, and marketing communications support to several programs. All tasks must be completed within budgetary restrictions and approved timelines as defined by the director of communications. The position also works closely with Select Sires’ member communications and marketing staff to assist with their requests and keep them abreast of new materials available from headquarters.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND Responsibilities:Specific duties and responsibilities of a Communications Specialist include, but are not limited to: Serve as a positive representation of the Select Sires Inc. Mission: To enhance the productivity and profitability of dairy and beef producers, Select Sires is committed to be the premier provider of highly fertile, superior genetics accompanied by effective reproductive- and herd-management products and services.Serve as a contributor to write, edit and design the customer newsletter, Selections, and Select Sires press releases.Serve as the lead editor of the Select Sires employee newsletter, Select ConnectCreate and manage social media content for Select Sires social media accounts Produce, update, and provide content to support efforts to develop, grow and enhance Select Sires’ website and blog.Develop specialty brochures or fliers on an as-needed basis. Develop promotional pieces for specific programs or product lines as assigned by the director of communications.Design and complete point-of-sale fliers, statement stuffers, and digital pieces featuring content provided by the sales and marketing department. Develop member price lists.Maintain and update the OneCall Now system for federation communication. Design and develop print, digital, and video promotional material for print publications and on multiple digital platforms, with input from various departments' in proofreading all external pieces created by the communications team.Effectively communicate with all levels of technical and business resources.Effectively communicate relevant project information to the director of communications, including project changes and challenges as they arise.Ensure all projects are consistent with corporate guidelines and brand image, including style, tone, and quality.Suggest new ideas/concepts/technology to improve the communication's team's marketing and/or effectiveness.Operate effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team-oriented environment.Attend conferences and events as needed to fulfill job responsibilities and complete projects.The Communications Specialist's work schedule is Monday through Friday. Typical office hours are 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. ET. Some travel is necessary, including overnight travel, and this position periodically requires extended hours and possible weekends. Required Skills and Abilities:Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Knowledge of the dairy industry, animal husbandry practices, and productionHold the ability to prioritize/reprioritize as necessary to meet deadlinesPossess strong teamwork and communication skills to work proactively and effectively with marketing and communications team members, I.T. resources, outside vendors, and member staff to deliver projects within timelines and budgets.Have strong project management skills.Be organized and self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision. prefered skills and abilities:Knowledge of AP writing style and commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within communications and design areasDemonstrate a passion for and commitment to the dairy and beef industries through strong involvement in related organizations or prior experiences and/or background within the industry.A firm knowledge of these industries as well as artificial inseminationDegree in dairy or animal sciences, marketing/communications, multimedia design or public relations, or related work experience disclaimer The job description is not intended to cover or describe all tasks, duties, and responsibilities the employee may be required to or asked to perform.
